WORTHY CAUSES

Whitby Goth Weekend has supported several charities and good causes over the years. Here are a few of them, and some info about the work that they do.

Based in Thornaby, Stockton-on-Tees, Tees Valley Guinea Pig Rescue is a temporary home for guinea pigs waiting to be re-homed after being surrendered into their care for lots of different reasons.

The Bat Conservation Trust is the only UK charity solely devoted to conserving UK bat species. You can show your support by becoming a member, making a donation, or holding your own fundraising event to play a vital part in their work to protect vulnerable bat species.

The Tolga Bat Hospital is a community group in Australia working for the conservation of bats and their habitat through partnerships in education, research, advocacy, rescue and landcare work.

The Sophie Lancaster Foundation’s goal is to create a lasting legacy to Sophie Lancaster. The charity aims to raise awareness of prejudice against subcultures though campaigning and educational work. They also to work to have UK Hate Crime extended to include ‘Alternative Subcultures’.
 

Scarborough, Whitby and Ryedale Mind is a registered charity providing advice and support to adults with mental health problems in Scarborough, Whitby and Ryedale since 1965.

DEBRA is the national charity that supports individuals and families affected by Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB) – a painful genetic skin blistering condition which, in the worst cases, can be fatal.
